Dr Luisa Nienhaus

Luisa first joined us in 2020 as a member of the Centre’s research team. During this time, her work involved the processing of qualitative data and further desk-based research into key topics surrounding the Centre’s research study ‘Continuity and Change: 10 years of teaching about the Holocaust in English Secondary Schools’.

Since 2023, Luisa also works as a member of the Kindertransport project and is leading on the project’s teacher and pupil research. She has also been involved with and supports on other research activities such as the evaluation of our ITE courses and the 2025 student research.

Having received a PhD in Heritage and Museum Studies, Luisa also has a background in Public Archaeology. Alongside Holocaust education, Luisa’s research interest is in conflict heritage, focussing on the commemoration, interpretation, presentation and visitation of conflict related heritage sites
