Senior Research Fellow

Dr Eleni Karayianni

Eleni joined the Centre in 2015 and is a member of the research team.

She has recently been involved in the design and implementation of the Centre’s research study ‘Continuity and Change: 10 years of teaching about the Holocaust in English Secondary Schools’ and is currently working on analysis of the data and dissemination of findings. She has also recently co-authored the Centre’s new research-informed textbook ‘Understanding the Holocaust: How and why did it happen?’ with Prof Stuart Foster, Dr Andy Pearce and Helen McCord.

Eleni is additionally responsible for the evaluation of the Centre’s ITE programmes and for the publication of a series of research briefings for the dissemination of research findings to practitioners. She also played an active role in the research that underpinned the design of the ‘Addressing anti-semitism in schools’ teacher training curricula for the ODIHR/OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Words into Action Project.

She holds a PhD in History Education awarded by the UCL Institute of Education in 2012. Before joining the Centre, she worked as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Cyprus and as a primary school teacher in Cyprus and the UK.
