Join us for an exploration into issues around assessment in Holocaust Education. You’ll gain some insights into considerations, perspectives and practices that will help when you plan your next Holocaust assessment. This course is aimed at secondary school teachers looking to explore issues around how assessment in Holocaust Education might ‘work’ and reflect on the implications of this for their own practice.
Teaching and structure
This is an asynchronous online course that you can access and complete any time that suits you, with a certificate of completion at the end. In it you will explore research conducted by the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education into teacher descriptions of assessment practices; hear from Professor Mary Richardson, Professor of Educational Assessment at the Institute of Education, UCL sharing her thoughts about what assessment is and what considerations might go into making as assessment effective; watch four teachers of different subject disciplines (History, RE, SEND and Psychology) from around England, sharing their practice and advice around assessment in Holocaust Education; and consider a few bitesize extracts from academic literature about the nature of assessment.
