Testwood Sports College is an 11-16 comprehensive school on the edge of the New Forest, just out of Southampton city centre. Testwood gained academy status in 2011.

As a school we became involved with the Centre for Holocaust Education in Spring 2010 when colleagues took part in the 2 free CPD days in London. In 2011 the Centre visited Testwood to produce a case study on how we had used the CPD to develop our Holocaust education programme, which was used in an article by the TES. We have also participated in the new research being undertaken into students’ understanding of the Holocaust.

Testwood was very proud to become part of the Beacon Schools programme in its’ pilot year 2012-13, which focused on connecting the dots – using the Holocaust to teach about other genocides. The enquiries and resources developed as a result of this work are to be shared in workshops at both the HA Conference in May 2014 and the annual SHP conference in July 2014.
