Denbigh School is a mixed age 11-18 school in Milton Keynes with over 1,200 student on roll.

The school teaches History, Geography and RE for KS3 as combined Humanities subjects. As a result there is a very cross-curricular approach to teaching the Holocaust, which is further supported by lessons delivered as part of the students Citizenship programme.

The students’ knowledge and interest in the Holocaust is further supported by collapsed curriculum days within Year 9 where students take part in a ‘Diversity Project’ were groups of students study different forms of prejudice and the campaigns for a diverse culture and compare these to the actions of the Nazis and the developments of the Holocaust. The aim for such study is that students feel empowered to make a difference to the society around them and that they can really act on the saying ‘Never Again.’

Denbigh are continually developing the CPD of staff delivering this project, with the lead teacher participating in the UCL Beacon School Study Trip to Warsaw and five other members of staff attending the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education training days. Our network schools have also been involved in this to improve the support offered to teachers of the Holocaust within our local community.
