Avon Valley School is an 11-16 Performing Arts College in the heart of Rugby with over 1100 students on roll.

We have been delivering Holocaust education for many years here specifically within RE in year 9. Our Beacon School lead teacher is the Social Studies Faculty Leader Mrs Sarah Mills. Both Mrs Mills and the Head of RE and PSHE Miss Kayleigh Waudby have both completed the two day CPD with the IOE. This had a huge impact on teaching and since then we have been driven by the desire to teach the Holocaust to students, in an authentic and sensitive way. Miss Kelly Peel our Head of History also completed the CPD this year. As part of the Beacon School programme, all staff who teach about the Holocaust in some way will have completed the CPD.
