We are a 3-16 school in Manchester with comprehensive intake. Our school is multi-ethnic with over 51 home languages spoken. The majority of students are Muslim.

We were involved with the Beacon Schools programme in 2012 – 2013 when the theme was linking the Holocaust with other genocides.

As a result we have developed a new history scheme of work to compare the Holocaust with genocides in Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur, using mass atrocities in Kosovo as a further comparison. We have also held a “Global Awareness Day” which involved collaborative learning between 7 different subjects on the theme of genocides.
