We are delighted to announce the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education has received the Silver award in the Nurturing Values and Ethics category of the QS Reimagine Education awards.

Reimagine Education is a global conference and competition, open to educational innovators from all around the world. The Reimagine Education Awards – the ‘Oscars’ of Education – reward innovative approaches that enhance student learning outcomes and employability.

The Nurturing Values and Ethics category was introduced this year. The judges were looking for programs or initiatives that nurtured values and ethics in an innovative, measurable and tangible fashion. Programs were assessed on numerous domains such as the nature and scale of the problem the program sought to address, the ways in which the project addressed these issues and was truly innovative, the uniqueness of the program, the reach of the program nationally and internationally, and the available evidence to demonstrate tangible impact of the program. In summarising the Centre’s work, we explained:

The UCL Centre for Holocaust Education operates at the frontier of teaching and learning about the Holocaust, nationally and internationally. Its central mission is to transform teaching and learning in schools. Adopting a distinct research-informed approach, we conduct pioneering research into classroom challenges. We use this evidence base and the specialist knowledge of our staff to develop world-leading continuing professional development (CPD) courses and materials for teachers. To date, the Centre has positively impacted 25,000 teachers, providing them with the confidence and expertise to teach this complex history, address related contemporary issues and nurture fundamental values in students.

The Centre was one of seven projects across the world shortlisted for this award. The standard of the other projects was excellent, and we were honoured to receive the Silver award.
