This weekend, as the Jewish New Year approached, Mala Tribich’s celebrated her birthday.

My friendship with this remarkable survivor of the Holocaust has as grown over several decades and with each passing year I find her more enchanting and inspiring. In Jewish scriptures (proverbs 31:10—31) there is a saying that sums up the essence of Mala:

Eshet chayil mee yimtza, Verachok mi’pninim michra, which translates to: A woman of valour who can find? For her price is far above rubies.

Mala, a true ‘Eshet Chayil’,  from all of us at UCL Centre for Holocaust Education, Happy Birthday, and may your life be filled with good health and much happiness.
