Royal Wootton Bassett Academy and the IOE’s Centre for Holocaust Education are delighted to announce a unique two–day conference that seeks to address an important gap in educational provision: empowering young people to safeguard the future by learning about the past.

Held over 29-30 May 2014 at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, near Swindon, our conference will engage and inspire teachers and other stakeholders with keynote speakers, workshops, seminars and a variety of other networking, practical and arts/cultural opportunities.

• It will champion a range of outstanding, innovative and inspiring teaching and learning strategies
• It will encourage SLT to reflect on the nature of their leadership, whole school priorities, SCMC, values and ethos
• It will showcase best practice; highlight the need to engage with current and emerging research, encourage networking, explore holistic learning, community cohesion and progress and engagement
• It will feature international and national speakers in a range of teaching, research, Holocaust education, genocide prevention and human rights fields. It has garnered the significant global, national and local support of a range of organisations, educational bodies (Ofsted, National College through School Leadership, Values Education, Independent Thinking, DfE and IOE’s Centre for Holocaust Education), public figures and survivors
• It is a chance to celebrate academic excellence, but also recognise those whose vision of education encompasses the development and engagement of the whole student; those with a sense of education as a the means to equip our young people with the skills, knowledge and understanding that will enable them to grow into the confident, responsible, engaged, active, empathetic global citizens of the future
