The Thomas Hardye School holds specialisms in Humanities, Science, Mathematics and Computing, as well as being a SEN specialist and a teacher training school. It is the lead partner in the Dorchester Area Schools Partnership (DASP) and is the base for the Dorset Teacher Training Partnership.

The school is classified as a Rights Respecting school and has for the past 3 years focused on Holocaust, Genocide and Human Rights Education with the development of a very wide reaching PSHCE curriculum across all key stages.

The school is involved in numerous projects, events and outreach programmes dealing with Holocaust and genocide education, Human Rights, international awareness and dealing with the dangers of prejudice and discrimination. These are both in the local area, but also branching out further afield.
