A statement from Prof. Stuart Foster, on behalf of all the team at the Centre for Holocaust Education

As our thoughts turn towards the historic 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. We also acknowledge the non-Jewish victims of Nazi persecution, hate, and murder and recognise the suffering and torment endured by all those who experienced and survived this brutal genocide.

At this time of reflection, we also reaffirm our commitment at the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education to support teachers across the country through our research-informed educational programmes. We also pay tribute to those who seek to educate young people about this critical history. Every day we see the profound impact that high quality teaching can have on young people’s knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust, and we will continue to work tirelessly in pursuit of this objective.
