The second in our series of podcasts ‘Meet the author’: New writings on the Holocaust

‘Empire of Destruction’

Listen here

This podcast aims to continue to bring the latest academic research on the Holocaust into the classroom. Empire of Destruction is a conversation between Dr Alex Kay from the University of Potsdam and the UCL Centre for Holocaust Education about his ground-breaking book ‘Empire of Destruction: A History of Nazi Mass Killing

Aimed at educators who are teaching about the Holocaust, it’s also fascinating for anyone just curious about the past and this powerful account of German war crimes. For the first time this book brings together the history of the Holocaust and genocidal policies against other population groups in a single analytical frame. This podcast also reflects on the nature of the evidence used to support this history, and a reflection on what this history means to us today, particularly in the concept of ‘comradeship’.
