The Goethe-Institut is running a series of films documenting Nazi atrocities from 8 May 2015.

The series includes four film programmes with contributions from the four Allied Powers made at the end of World War II to document the crimes of the Nazis and the conditions in the camps. Two additional programmes present later works by filmmakers such as Chris Marker, Alain Resnais, Harun Farocki and Emil Weiss, who take a more personal view and stand out for their new approaches to representing the camps.
The series is accompanied by discussions with historians and film experts on those early productions and how they were reworked as archive footage.

We are showing this series for a general audience and would like to reach as many people as possible with it. The series looks at how the early films came about, how they differ and how they were used. The issue of how Nazi atrocities can be adequately represent through film and how we should work with the archive material responsibly are also addressed.
